Nova Scotia Mural

This was a mural design I created for The Makerspace, a creative space with state-of-the-art technology for college students located in Dartmouth. I really poured a lot of heart into this one—my goal was to celebrate Nova Scotia in a way that felt personal and visually interesting, so I designed a collage made up of different photos of the province, all arranged into the shape of Nova Scotia itself.

I really had to prepare for the design in advance before taking it into Photoshop. I mapped out how I was going to create it. I created the collage in grayscale, then applied a layer mask to it to cut it into the shape of the province. I created a colour pattern with AI, then put an opacity filter on it to blend it with the collage.

When my design was selected to be one of the murals to go up, some pictures had to be replaced because I did not hold the rights to them. My original concept had text that said "Invest NS" but the clients preferred no text.  It ended up being printed and installed on the wall at The Makerspace, which was super rewarding to see.
