For this assignment, we were tasked with designing a homepage for an artist of our choice. I chose to work with Denise Sooley, a photographer whose work I really admire. Her style has a quiet, thoughtful energy that I wanted to reflect in the overall look and feel of the homepage.

The goal was to create a clean, welcoming introduction to Denise’s work while making it easy for users to navigate to the rest of her site—like her portfolio, an about section, and a section listing any upcoming shows or events where she’d be showcasing her photography.

I kept the layout minimal and image-forward, letting Denise’s photography take centre stage. The design uses soft typography and a neutral colour palette to let the visuals breathe while still feeling intentional and polished. I also focused on creating a smooth user experience, making sure visitors could intuitively explore her work without getting lost or overwhelmed.

It was a great exercise in designing for a real-world creative, and a nice opportunity to blend thoughtful UX with a personal aesthetic.
